Sedation Dentistry

At Southeast Family Dental, your comfort is our first concern! We understand that some patients experience anxiety at the thought of visiting the dentist. Dr. Bohnert, Dr. Geiger and Dr. Jones can help. We offer safe, effective sedation methods to promote comfort and take the stress out of dental visits. We believe that once you’ve experienced sedation dentistry with Dr. Bohnert, Dr. Geiger or Dr. Jones , you’ll never be afraid to go to the dentist again.

What is sedation dentistry?

Sedation dentistry involves the use of a commonly prescribed sedative to eliminate anxiety and create a sense of complete calm. You’ll take the sedative prior to your appointment. By the time you arrive at our dental office, you’ll be drowsy, so please have a friend or family member drive you to and from your appointment. We’ll seat you in a treatment chair and give you a warm blanket before we begin your procedures. Your vital signs will be monitored at all times.

Your sedation will make you unaware of treatment details but able to converse with Dr. Bohnert, Dr.Geiger, Dr. Jones and our team. You’ll emerge gradually from your oral sedation with little or no memory of your time at our office. Sedation dentistry lets Dr. Bohnert, Dr. Geiger or Dr. Jones potentially perform several procedures in a single session. People with busy schedules can get the dental care they need, easily and quickly.

Imagine turning back the clock on your oral health so that you can smile with confidence and chew without pain. No wonder so many patients say, “Sedation dentistry changed my life.”

Who is a candidate for sedation dentistry?

Almost anyone may qualify, including people who:

  • Experience mild to extreme dental anxiety
  • Have had a past traumatic dental experience
  • Experience difficulty getting numb
  • Have a sensitive gag reflex or extreme dental sensitivity
  • Don’t like the sounds, smells, and tastes associated with a dental office
  • Need lengthy or complex dental treatments
  • Have put off dental care because of time constrains
  • Dislike needles and injections
  • Are embarrassed about their teeth

In addition to oral sedation, Dr. Bohnert, Dr. Geiger and Dr. Jones also offer nitrous oxide.

Use It or Lose It!

Calendar December 31
Most insurance companies have a benefit deadline of December 31, and this means that any of your unused benefits don’t roll over into the new year. So, if your insurance plan will pay for roughly $1,500 of treatments each calendar year, and you haven’t used this amount by the end of the year, you lose it. Read more about this

Don't wait to schedule your appointments until the last few weeks in December. Call Southeast Family Dental TODAY at 317.359.8000 to schedule your appointment.

Kind and courteous

The staff at Southeast Dental have always been kind and courteous. They have made me feel at ease about going to the dentist. I neglected my teeth for over 30 years because I felt other dentists were judgemental and just wanted to get the the job done regardless of discomfort or pain. Not at Southeast.

Excellent Experience

This was my first time at Southeast Family Dental for a routine cleaning & check up. My encounter with all of the staff was great! The hygentist explained everything she was about to perform, and Dr G was very knowledgeable while answering my many questions. I felt very comfortable, despite my “dental anxieties” throughout my… Read more “Excellent Experience”
