Latest in Technology
You will be amazed! Over the years, the field of dentistry has seen many innovations and advances. Dr. Bohnert and Dr. Geiger regularly attend continuing education classes to investigate the latest in clinical and technological dentistry. Below are just a few examples of the state-of-the-art tools we use to improve our patient’s dental experience as well as their oral health.
DIAGNOdent Laser Cavity Detection
DIAGNOdent can detect decay below the gum line and between teeth, as well as identify areas of demineralization, which are precursors to cavities. Finding decay early lets Dr. Bohnert and Dr. Geiger deliver conservative treatments to prevent small problems from creating significant damage.
Air abrasion replaces our traditional dental drill. This technology uses a stream of compressed air and tiny abrasive particles to comfortably and efficiently remove decay and prepare teeth for restoration. This conservative treatment is so gentle that most patients don’t require anesthesia. With air abrasion, the vibration, pain, heat, smell, and noise associated with the dental drill are history.
Nothing is more important than your safety, and we want you to have complete peace of mind when you visit our office. That’s why our team at Southeast Family Dental adheres to rigorous sterilization procedures. You’ll notice our facemasks and gloves, as well as the protective covers on equipment and instruments.
To ensure your protection, all of our sterilization procedures meet or exceed OSHA and the American Dental Association’s guidelines. We use the most advanced sterilization systems available, and each member of our team is fully trained in these state-of-the-art practices.
Our tiny intraoral camera projects images from inside your mouth to a monitor in your treatment room. These highly detailed photos let Dr. Bohnert and Dr. Geiger assess your oral health and show you where your smile needs work. This technology not only helps Dr. Bohnert and Dr. Geiger diagnose problems, it helps patients become partners in treatment planning.
Digital X-rays emit 80% less radiation than traditional radiography. They provide Dr. Bohnert and Dr. Geiger with the most modern, comprehensive imagery available so that they can accurately assess, diagnose, and recommend treatments. Digital X-rays are also better for the environment because they require no hazardous photographic developing chemicals.
Lasers have revolutionized dentistry! They provide safe, fast, efficient care for a variety of dental procedures, including gum recontouring, periodontal therapy, crown lengthening, cavity detection, and more. Used for surgical procedures instead of a scalpel, lasers seal as they go. So there’s no need for stitches and bleeding is minimal. Most patients don’t require anesthesia with laser surgery, and healing time is quicker than with traditional surgical methods.
